AIRPORT JOURNEY PLANNING · YVR
Heading from Vancouver airport?
Find your direction first.
Plan a shared airport journey from YVR. Choose your destination, estimate a fare share and coordinate with approved travellers on ArriveTogether. Group availability depends on other travellers; a search may return no matches.
Quick answer
ArriveTogether helps you find travellers heading from YVR toward the same destination area. Choose the airport and destination, review available groups, then request approval. No ride is booked and availability is not guaranteed.
Choose the right destination
A destination such as Delta or Surrey is different from downtown Vancouver. Select your actual destination area so a group can assess whether its route fits your journey.
Compare your airport transfer options
The Canada Line provides a rail alternative from YVR. Compare the route and any onward connection with a shared cab to your actual destination. Richmond, Delta and Surrey are separate planning choices; do not assume a downtown Vancouver group will pass your stop.

YVR: choose the destination before choosing the train
The Canada Line serves YVR’s main terminal complex. YVR identifies its station between the domestic and international terminals; follow airport signs rather than a map pin for a nearby road. The South Terminal is a separate arrival problem, so check your flight’s terminal first.
Three different last-mile plans
- Downtown Vancouver: start by checking the Canada Line and the walk or connection from your destination station. A direct rail journey can avoid having to assemble a crew.
- Richmond: a Richmond address is not automatically on the airport branch. YVR notes that Richmond–Brighouse branch journeys require a change at Bridgeport. Compare that connection with the actual address and luggage you have.
- Delta or Surrey: assess the onward leg separately. A downtown train ticket is not a door-to-door plan for these destinations. If considering a shared cab, look for a compatible route rather than accepting a group labelled only “Vancouver.”
Late arrivals and bags
YVR lists the N10 NightBus for periods when the Canada Line is closed. Check the service that will be running when you clear arrivals, not when your aircraft lands. For a taxi, ask the dispatcher about your final address, passenger count and luggage before agreeing on shares. A large suitcase can matter more than an empty seat.
Example planning decision: two travellers heading to different parts of Delta should compare the total cost and detour of two drop-offs with separate trips. Enter a quote in the transfer comparison worksheet; do not treat a fare estimate as a provider’s offer.

Turn your arrival into a workable plan
- Use the airport’s local time. Enter when you expect to be ready to leave, allowing for immigration, baggage collection and delays.
- Check people and luggage. Review available seats, bags and the destination. Create your own Arrival Crew if existing plans do not fit.
- Request approval. Every accepted member must approve a join request before the requester can access private group messages and the meeting point.
- Coordinate after acceptance. Confirm your public meeting location, route, drop-off order and what happens if a flight is delayed.
Estimate a fare share before agreeing
The fare calculator divides your entered fare and fees across the traveller count. It is a planning estimate, not a live taxi quote. Use your transport provider’s actual price, and agree how the group will pay before travelling.
ArriveTogether connects travellers. It does not book taxis, provide drivers or collect shared cab fares. A match does not guarantee a ride or a saving.
Keep your arrival practical
Meet in a public place, follow airport pickup instructions, and avoid posting sensitive travel or payment details. Report or block an account when needed. You can leave a group if plans change.
