AIRPORT JOURNEY PLANNING · YYZ
Heading from Toronto Pearson airport?
Find your direction first.
Plan a shared airport journey from YYZ. Choose your destination, estimate a fare share and coordinate with approved travellers on ArriveTogether. Group availability depends on other travellers; a search may return no matches.
Quick answer
ArriveTogether helps you find travellers heading from YYZ toward the same destination area. Choose the airport and destination, review available groups, then request approval. No ride is booked and availability is not guaranteed.
Choose the right destination
Toronto Pearson and Toronto Billy Bishop are separate airport choices in the app. Start with YYZ when arriving at Pearson, and choose your destination neighbourhood rather than treating all of Toronto as one route.
Compare your airport transfer options
Pearson documents an UP Express connection from Terminal 1 to Union Station. Compare that rail option and your onward trip with a shared taxi. Make sure everyone is arriving at Pearson, not Billy Bishop, before agreeing on a meeting point.

Pearson: separate the terminal transfer from the city transfer
Pearson’s UP Express information describes rail travel between Pearson and Union Station, with intermediate connections. It is a useful starting point for a downtown journey, but Union is not the final destination for every Toronto-area address. Confirm your arrival terminal and how you will reach the departure point before comparing times.
Match the plan to your address
- Central Toronto: compare the rail journey plus the final walk or transit connection with a cab to the door. Count tickets for everyone travelling.
- Mississauga or Brampton: check an airport-to-address route before travelling into central Toronto. A group heading downtown may take you away from the most practical route.
- North York, Scarborough or Markham: use the neighbourhood and final connection to assess compatibility. “Toronto” alone is too broad to decide whether sharing makes sense.
Coordinate after baggage collection
Someone in another terminal can be close on a map yet still need time to collect bags and reach a meeting point. Share a realistic ready-to-leave time in airport local time. Choose a public meeting area first, then follow current signs for the transport you actually book. A terminal door, taxi queue and ride-app pickup area are different instructions.
Compare the whole party
For three people, multiply each transit ticket and any onward tickets by three before comparing with a vehicle quote. Include extra stops in that quote. Agree whether a long detour is acceptable; equal fare shares do not automatically make an unequal route convenient.
Backup: keep an independent rail, bus or taxi plan if a crew is delayed. ArriveTogether does not reserve a seat on public transport or hold a vehicle.

Turn your arrival into a workable plan
- Use the airport’s local time. Enter when you expect to be ready to leave, allowing for immigration, baggage collection and delays.
- Check people and luggage. Review available seats, bags and the destination. Create your own Arrival Crew if existing plans do not fit.
- Request approval. Every accepted member must approve a join request before the requester can access private group messages and the meeting point.
- Coordinate after acceptance. Confirm your public meeting location, route, drop-off order and what happens if a flight is delayed.
Estimate a fare share before agreeing
The fare calculator divides your entered fare and fees across the traveller count. It is a planning estimate, not a live taxi quote. Use your transport provider’s actual price, and agree how the group will pay before travelling.
ArriveTogether connects travellers. It does not book taxis, provide drivers or collect shared cab fares. A match does not guarantee a ride or a saving.
Keep your arrival practical
Meet in a public place, follow airport pickup instructions, and avoid posting sensitive travel or payment details. Report or block an account when needed. You can leave a group if plans change.
