AIRPORT JOURNEY PLANNING · YYC
Heading from Calgary airport?
Find your direction first.
Plan a shared airport journey from YYC. Choose your destination, estimate a fare share and coordinate with approved travellers on ArriveTogether. Group availability depends on other travellers; a search may return no matches.
Quick answer
ArriveTogether helps you find travellers heading from YYC toward the same destination area. Choose the airport and destination, review available groups, then request approval. No ride is booked and availability is not guaranteed.
Choose the right destination
Airdrie is a separate destination option from Calgary neighbourhoods. Choose the area you are actually heading to and confirm luggage space as well as available seats before requesting to join.
Compare your airport transfer options
YYC lists public transit, taxis, rentals and hotel shuttles. Compare those options before choosing a shared cab. Ask your hotel about its shuttle and check whether your chosen destination is in Calgary or a separate community such as Airdrie.

YYC: compare the airport bus with the complete road journey
Calgary airport’s transportation guidance says there is no direct LRT connection at the airport. Its public-transit page currently lists Route 100 connections to Saddletowne LRT and North Pointe, and Route 500 express service between YYC and downtown via Centre Street. Check the current route rather than relying on an old route number in a saved travel article.
Different destinations, different comparisons
- Downtown Calgary: compare the airport express bus and your final walk with a cab to your accommodation. Allow for waiting time after you are ready to leave.
- Other Calgary neighbourhoods: include every bus or LRT transfer. A connection can be workable with a backpack and awkward with several large suitcases.
- Airdrie: treat this as its own destination. A crew heading south into Calgary is not automatically a useful match for a northbound trip.
Do not confuse campus routes with terminal service
YYC distinguishes terminal routes from buses serving the Global Logistics Park and McCall Way. A stop that appears near an airport on a map may not serve the passenger terminal. Start with the airport’s route guidance and follow current terminal signs.
Before sharing a taxi
Confirm all destinations and luggage with the dispatcher. Ask whether the quoted total covers airport fees and multiple stops, then agree on drop-off order and shares with the crew. If accessible transport or a child restraint is needed, confirm suitability with the provider before joining a plan.
Backup: ask your accommodation directly whether it has a shuttle, whether a reservation is needed and how late it operates. Do not infer a shuttle from the hotel’s distance from the airport.

Turn your arrival into a workable plan
- Use the airport’s local time. Enter when you expect to be ready to leave, allowing for immigration, baggage collection and delays.
- Check people and luggage. Review available seats, bags and the destination. Create your own Arrival Crew if existing plans do not fit.
- Request approval. Every accepted member must approve a join request before the requester can access private group messages and the meeting point.
- Coordinate after acceptance. Confirm your public meeting location, route, drop-off order and what happens if a flight is delayed.
Estimate a fare share before agreeing
The fare calculator divides your entered fare and fees across the traveller count. It is a planning estimate, not a live taxi quote. Use your transport provider’s actual price, and agree how the group will pay before travelling.
ArriveTogether connects travellers. It does not book taxis, provide drivers or collect shared cab fares. A match does not guarantee a ride or a saving.
Keep your arrival practical
Meet in a public place, follow airport pickup instructions, and avoid posting sensitive travel or payment details. Report or block an account when needed. You can leave a group if plans change.
