The offline travel phone checklist: maps, battery and arrival details
Prepare an offline arrival kit so a weak connection or low battery does not derail your airport transfer.

The quick answer
Before departure, save your accommodation contact, route notes and essential booking information somewhere you can open offline. Test it in airplane mode; a saved link alone is not an offline copy.
Save a small arrival kit
Keep a private note with your destination, accommodation phone number, check-in instructions and backup transport plan. Save the relevant map area through a map app that supports offline use. Record the airport name and terminal clearly so similar city or airport names do not cause confusion.
Test instead of assuming
Open your saved information with network access temporarily off before leaving home. Some apps retain a preview but need a connection for details or navigation. A screenshot of a route is a reference, not a source of live disruption information. Check updates again when a connection becomes available.
Make the battery plan practical
Bring a compatible cable and check the airline’s current battery policy before packing a power bank. CATSA places portable chargers in carry-on baggage, with airline conditions also relevant. Do not rely on finding a working socket at every seat or in every vehicle. Keep devices and batteries protected from damage.
Protect what you save
A travel kit may contain private addresses and booking references. Use your device’s lock and avoid publishing screenshots that show barcodes or reservation codes. Keep only what you need easy to reach. Share a general meeting point with a group rather than a complete travel document.
Your takeaway checklist
- Test essential notes offline.
- Save accommodation contact and backup route.
- Check current power-bank rules.
- Keep booking codes and documents private.
Will an offline map show current airport transport disruptions?
Usually not. Use it for orientation and check live operator updates when you have connectivity.
